Day 3 - Blue Skies!

Morning Ride - Mark T's 67.9 mi bike ride

Before jumping into Day 3, wanted to mention my evening on Day 2 as I was a zombie when I wrote it! I landed at the Deer Head Inn on Main St. in Del Water Gap (DWG) just as the skies opened up in buckets. Was planning to ride a few more miles to a big box hotel in E.Stroudsburg, but the owner of a nearby restaurant sitting outside called the Inn owner for me when I asked if something was closer. Saved again, this time from being drenched! Went back to dine at that restaurant after cleaning up in my room…good karma! This quant village hosts thru-hikers on the Appalachian Trail and even has an outdoor church dedicated to them up on a hill where folks were gathering when I pulled into town. I met a few walking out of the Inn in the morning, so we became a “nexus” of their North-South hike and my East-West route.
Day 3

Spectacular day of sunny weather floating through the pastural lands outside of E.Stroudsburg. Came across over 100 ducks sunning themselves in the morning on hillside above a pond. Came across a weathervane with a cross on top pointing west (my direction) so felt momentarily part of a pilgrimage. En route to Hickory State Park, I had my gas station “picnic lunch” on a beautiful roadside and then came across one of the nicest welcome centers for park visitors. Almost made me want to camp there but chose to push on to Hazelton and the Residence Inn, where I elevated my legs in front of the gas fireplace, ate Weis Markets sushi and watched the US soccer team lose in spectacular fashion to Panama, FFS?! (If you don’t know this English hooligan acronym, suggest you look it up so we keep the blog “clean” :-). Cheers for now!
