Day 10 Special Edition

Findley Lake surprise visit…mission accomplished! I plan to push off again early Saturday and enjoy the next couple days with family. For this blog, I have to dedicate it to my brother Chris given today is his birthday. Yes, he was born on the 4th of July, literally and figuratively! One of his most identifiable qualities was to have fun every day. He did this with youthful joy and rallied others. The pic is from Christmas Day 2020 playing soccer with three of his adult kids in the cold. The back of his car was like a sporting goods store. I guarantee if Chris was physically on this ride with me, his bike would be much heavier than mine, loaded up with “stuff” and a soccer ball would be strapped to the back! His lived life and his lost life are reminder to revel in our youth no matter what age.
I grieve the loss of Chris. Grief makes me feel human in a world that often feels like it lacks humanity. It is an emotion we all share. It is likely among CRI’s clients when they first arrive. Our team is empathetic because many of them have those same lived experiences. Grief can bring us together.
In Springsteen’s recent tour, he’s ending his concert with an acoustic version of the song “I’ll See You In My Dreams”. It was released as a single in March 2021, just before Chris died. Bruce wrote it about the loss of a friend. In conjunction with his tour, it feels like it doubles as a goodbye song to his fans. It’s cathartic and uplifting for me. The line that I focus on is in the fourth stanza: “I’ll see you in my dreams; When all our summers have come to an end; I’ll see you in my dreams; We’ll meet and live and laugh again”.  I will see you Chris.
Best to your families and friends today and enjoy a happy 4th of July!
“I’ll See You In My Dreams”
The road is long and seeming without end
The days go on, I remember you my friend
And though you're gone and my heart's been emptied it seems
I'll see you in my dreams
I got your guitar here by the bed
All your favorite records and all the books that you read
And though my soul feels like it's been split at the seams
I'll see you in my dreams
I'll see you in my dreams
When all our summers have come to an end
I'll see you in my dreams
We'll meet and live and laugh again
I'll see you in my dreams
Yeah, up around the river bend
For death is not the end
And I'll see you in my dreams
I'll see you in my dreams
When all our summers have come to an end
I'll see you in my dreams
We'll meet and live and laugh again
I'll see you in my dreams
Yeah, up around the river bend
For death is not the end
And I'll see you in my dreams
(See) you in my
See you in my dreams
Go
And I'll see you in my dreams
